Christmas or Holiday? – A Surprise View from the Right

November 30, 2005 at 12:57 pm | Posted in News, Politics, Religion | 1 Comment

With all the talk in the news (ABC News, ) and the blogs (Gina Cobb, Sister Toldjah, and Right Wing News) about “Christmas” versus “Holidays”, I have to put my two cent in. No one who knows me has any doubt that I am a Conservative Christian, so my position on this debate may surprise you.

The biggest problem is that the debate itself is “Stuck on Stupid.” Everyone taking sides on this debate appears to me to be looking to be offended by the other side. The left sees this as a chance to slap at the right. The right sees this as another insult from the left piled on top of so many others. This is not an issue of protecting innocents or even fighting evil. This is an issue about names.

On December 25th, My family and I will be celebrating the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, God in human form. What that day is called seems pretty minor in comparison. Because of what I am celebrating, there are a number of obligations placed upon me. Unfortunately, the obligations are only placed upon me not everyone else. First is to love my neighbor, and how do I show my neighbor love if I offend him. Sure my acceptance of Jesus and my Lord and Saviour may offend my neighbor, but my denying such would be a sin. I fail to see how telling a neighbor “Happy Holidays” is a sin if it keeps him from being offended. Second is submission to authority. We as Christians are required to submit to authority unless submission requires us to sin against the Lord. I just don’t see how our kids attending a holiday party in school requires us or our children to sin against the Lord.

Even things like private business choosing “Happy Holidays” over “Merry Christmas” should not cause us Christians offense. What they choose to say does not affect what we are celebrating. What we have allowed by buying into the debate is to allow our beliefs to become a marketing tool. If we are “successful” in getting stores to use “Merry Christmas”, what honor and glory does it bring to God? I would argue none, because Merry Christmas should come from the heart not the wallet. Do you really want to hold people in bondage to Christianity? Is that the light of Jesus? I don’t think so.

This is the way I look at it. God sent his Son, Jesus Christ to earth to be the pure and worthy sacrifice to pay the price for my sins. For me, a broken, unfix-able, and unworthy man who without Jesus has no hope. God promised that the sacrifice of Jesus was enough, all I have to do is accept that. Jesus taught us what faith in that promise really means. It does mean that I should act a certain way. Remember Matthew 7:3: “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”

Let’s all us Christians work on our own planks first.

What I Am Striving For

November 29, 2005 at 8:23 am | Posted in Religion | Comments Off on What I Am Striving For

The principles below are what I intend to make this blog into. “Stuck on Stupid” is not about people, it is about ideas. I want to make sure that my posts adhere to sound principles while still pointing out the “Stuck On Stupid” ideas. Please as you read my posts in the future, point out areas where I fall short. I know that by the grace of God I will be forgiven, but not excused. I still have to fix my wrongs, so thanks in advance for any help.

Here are the guiding principles. I found these on a link from Think Christian, which in turn I found from a link at Forks in the Road.

All of this started by reading an entry on called “How do we talk to other peoples’ kids about Santa?” The answer to the question is a good test of these principles. And one I don’t think I am ready to attempt yet. The question is an interesting one to ponder and may keep you thinking all day. Especially if you shine the light of sound Christian principles on it.

See, I Told You So

I wrote this (Blind Rage Gets In The Way Of Clear Thinking) on my personal blog a while ago.

It saddens me to see people who should stand up for our country choose not to, simply because they hate President Bush and think it is more important for President Bush be defeated at every turn than for our young men and women engaged in battle for our freedom to be victorious.

Now I have further proof. Take a look at this story from the Washington Post.

Thanks for the tip off Sister Toldjah.

I have moved my blog to new software. I did this so that I can have better control of comments and such. I may have broken links from other sites. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Schwarzenegger to consider convicted killer’s clemency

November 27, 2005 at 6:05 pm | Posted in News, Politics | 2 Comments

This is pretty close to top of the mountain “Stuck on Stupid”. The same people who think the President is a terrorist want to commute the death sentence of a convicted murderer. They run a document through a copier 25 times to try to convince us that because of something President Bush “might” have done 30+ years ago makes him not worthy to be president. Yet they nominate a convicted murderer for a Nobel Peace Prize and say what the murderer did in the past does not matter.

What is really “stuck on stupid” is that we have fed, housed and given access to the legal system this monster for 25 years. I hope that Governor Schwarzenegger gets the full story and ensures the execution is carried out in a timely manner.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Heavenly Father, I want to thank you for so many things that I am sure that I will miss some. I want to thank you for the magnificence of your creation. I want to thank you for creating a world that is perfect for us to live in. I thank you for your guidance in the creation of the United States of America. I thank you for all of the guardians of the freedom that have given their lives to keep our country free. I especially thank you for the brave guardians who continue to fight for right. I ask you to show them your light and the support of the people who love them and know that they are fighting for right. I thank you for a President who does the right thing regardless of what it does to his poll numbers. I thank you for the people of the Police and Fire departments who are working while everyone else takes the day off to protect us from the dangers of this world. I thank you for my wife who gives me the strength to get through each day. I thank you for the wonderful daughter you have given to me and I pray that she can grow up in a world where people love and respect each other. I know that a lot of people are thankful today. I pray that they learn who to be thankful to.

In the precious name of Jesus, I pray.

Chris Matthews Is Very Much Stuck On Stupid.

November 22, 2005 at 8:30 am | Posted in Politics | Comments Off on Chris Matthews Is Very Much Stuck On Stupid.

Chris Matthews of MSNBC’s Hardball has so lost it, he had the nerve to say this:

The person on the other side is not evil. They just have a different perspective. The smartest people understand the enemy’s point of view, because they understand what’s driving them.

Full Story: – World – Bush wanted ‘big bang’ – TV host

What Mr. Matthews fails to recognize is that President Bush does understand the enemy and that is why he is working so hard to stop them. Arriving at the other side being evil was not a knee jerk reaction to a horrible event. It is a reasonable conclusion to arrive at based upon the facts that came out of both the events and actions leading up to 9/11.

There is a difference between good and evil. Good does not kill 3000 + civilians in a single incident. Good doesn’t behead innocent people. Good doesn’t celebrate the death of others. Good doesn’t send their women and children to die killing innocent people and proudly proclaim responsibility. Good runs into burning buildings to save people. Good puts their own life on the line to save others. Good fights evil to protect the innocent.

Thank God for the first amendment. Mr. Matthews has as much right to say what he wants as we do to prove him to be “Stuck on Stupid”. Thanks to Michele Malkin for pointing this out.

This is the picture from my camera phone taken just before the start of the arguably the biggest rivalry in College Football. The Michigan – Ohio State game. I am the last person to enjoy large crowds but I enjoyed the game. It was a very good game right up to the end. Although Michigan lost, the game was competitive and exciting the whole time.

The coolest thing about going to the game was that fact that even though the rivalry is intense, most people realize that it is only a game. There was no politics (and Ann Arbor Michigan is one of the most liberal cities in the country) and the rivalry is for the most part respectful. While the national anthem was playing, all of those things where put aside and all of us sang the anthem together.

Senior Democrat calls for U.S. troops to leave Iraq – Nov 17, 2005

November 17, 2005 at 2:59 pm | Posted in Politics | Comments Off on Senior Democrat calls for U.S. troops to leave Iraq – Nov 17, 2005

Let’s say you are a terrorist in Iraq. But you are afraid to organize any activity because the U.S. Military is there killing or capturing many terrorists before they can carry out thier acts of terror. Then you watch CNN on the TV that has power because of the U.S. Military and see polls that say Americans are not supportive of the military being in Iraq and Democrats demading the troops be pulled out. – Senior Democrat calls for U.S. troops to leave Iraq – Nov 17, 2005. What is a poor terrorist to do? Run out and risk getting killed? Or wait until the Americans pull out?

It is absolutly sickening to see what the Democratic Party has become. They are a party of no agenda that only wants to oppose the President that they hate, regardless of who they hurt on the way. Even if it is the very people who have died for them to be able to be “Stuck on Stupid”. If you want to see a great satire about this, take a look at George W. Bush and the Holy Grail.
